The Military Assault Commando Organization, called MACO for short, is a ground based marine force created in 2093 as part of the original United Earth charter.

 

A subsidiary of the United Earth Stellar Navy, the MACO soldiers are extensively trained in all forms of combat, both armed and unarmed. Since it's inception, the MACO force has been responsible for security at United Earth installations and colonies. Normally not assigned to vessels, this changed after the U.E.S Enterprise's successful mission in the Delphic Expanse during the Xindi crisis with after action reports showing how valuable the MACO forces were to the successful outcome of the mission. It has now became standard procedure for all UESN and UESPA vessels to have their security force to be staffed entirely by MACO soldiers and with least one MACO solider to be assigned to every landing party.
